The Biggest Needle Movers For My Body

Disclaimer: I’m not a medical professional or scientist. I’m just some black dude with glasses who likes thinking about and questioning the things I’ve been taught about the human body. My fitness advice I believe is legit. But with everything else, just take it as my observations.

I’ll explain in a future post but many events in my life over the past few years have caused me to start looking at alternative points of view.

The foundation unbeknownst to me was being laid when I initially got into progressive calisthenics and grew when I started to delve into other minimalist forms of training.

Because of this, early on I realized that to cause the human body to adapt that is…

  • Gain more muscle

  • Become stronger

  • Move faster

  • Move farther

…didn’t require a huge chunk of things we were being sold. I was further radicalized with this point of view while earning my personal training certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and working inside of a gym for a little bit.

However, during this period in which I had my certification, in the gym, and using most of my precious time to sell supplements for the franchise, my body didn’t look like much. My ideas still needed some refining. I needed to return once more to where I was back when I left college and possibly surpass it.

However I am much older now and there are aspects about my life that are less ideal than they were back then.

What has also changed is how I view the human body. With this changed worldview/paradigm…I’m finally making progress.

It all comes down to how I look at the human body. Is it a Ferrari? Or is it a Nissan Altima as most science(left & right) has been teaching us?

I’m more likely to think of the human body as a Ferrari. If you have objections to this but have an open mind, please stick around to see my future articles.

If the human body is truly amazing as I believe it to be it shouldn’t take much to maintain it or even cause it to adapt… as long as you focus on the right, “Needle Movers.”

A needle mover is an action or strategy that creates measurable impact or progress toward a goal.

Most of the mainstream are focusing on things that are complex, physically strenous, or make money.

  • Complex(Nurititon plans)

  • Physically Strenous(Traning to failure)

  • Make Money(Supplements)

I’m not saying none of these work. They do…under the right conditions. But what will work under the worst conditions can work anytime. What works under the worse conditions are those approaches to health and fitness that work with the body and not against it and that understand the creation around it and use it to it’s best advantage.

For myself(and I’ll include details, research, and science as to why) I believe that the better balanced our electromagnetic environment and the efficiency of the adaptive stimulus we provide to our bodies are the biggest needle movers.

Not saying that the other things don’t matter. I still buy mostly healthy/whole foods verses the processed stuff. But the more I focused on the big two the less everything else will need to come into play.

  • 1) A Balanced Electromagnetic Environment

    • More Natural Light less LED(blue light)

    • More Nature and Grounding less Wifi and electrical grid

  • 2) An Efficient Adaptive Stimulus…

It’s about making our approach to health and fitness simple. And it’s simple because we are fearfully and wonderfully made. There will still be difficulty and pain in this world and in our journeys toward better health and fitness. But with the proper perspective, the unnecessary difficulty and pain will be removed.
